The Panelbook 550 can be powered by a normal AT Power Supply. I modified
mine by removing the extra cables and installing the switch on the
inside. I made the power cord out of a PS2 Extension Cable. It's only
26awg wire but it seems to work fine. I had to remove one pin and the
plastic center to make it fit.
|
|
On the inside of the power supply, I soldered the power cable wires to
the existing wires and covered the joints with shrink wrap tubing. A wire
tie holds the cable to
the case.

 |
For mounting the switch inside the power supply I removed the monitor
jack and made a switch plate out of acrylic plastic. Since the plastic
is clear it's easy to mark the holes.
To make the plate:
- Solder the switch to the wires.
- Cut Clear Plastic to cover empty hole and screw holes.
- Hold switch in place and mark location for large hole.
- Drill 1/2" hole.
- Place switch in hole and mark two small holes on switch.
- Drill 1/8" holes.
- Attach switch to plate with 1 screw.
- Hold switch in place and mark last two holes.
- Unscrew switch and drill last two holes in plate.
- Counter sink 1/8" holes for tapered screw heads.
- Attach Switch to plate and attach plate to Power Supply.

Check the pins with a voltage meter before
using the power cable. The wire colors above should be used for reference
only. They may vary from one manufacturer to the next.
I was recently informed the Power Supply
for the Panelbook 2600 works on the Panelbook 525. The power supply has
this same wiring diagram on the bottom so it should work on the 550 as
well.
